Cottoning On.

I have finally gotten around to facing my demons and utilising my sewing machine again. I have always been a little afraid of my machine as I thought that either I should or the expectation around me would be, to be able to whip up and turn out wonderful garments with quality tailoring fit for the fabulous…ahem (parden the pun).
The truth is I’m not a good sewer, far from it, I have thread coming out of places it's just not meant to come out of. But I do love the process of making and crafting or for want of other words, messing about. Believe it or not I actually did my foundation studies in Texiles whilst at Art college in Chester many moons ago. I was even compared to an early Vivienne Westwood by my tutor (apparently she couldn’t sew either). The point is I had the ideas and used whatever material or medium that was handy to me, paper, plastic, whatever. Yet I still felt I shoud have the precision of a Chanel Couturess if I was cheeky enough to use a sewing machine. In hindsight, I probably should have done a stint in Desmonds and learned the trade that way

Anyhow, I realise now I don’t need to be a first class seamstress to use the machine. It is simply another tool, another medium I can use to create. So, (or is that sew) I’ve cottoned on and have returned to my love of using and sewing on different mediums.

Ok, so sewing isn’t the main element, paper, tearing, painting, gluing all come into the process. I’ve been making some cards as a starter project and this has also helped bring me back to rediscover my love of paper.

So here’s a few of the first batch, stocking up for the stall...(if it is still going ahead, but thats a different story, will hear and tell more about that later).

Cowgirls and Butterflys

Have been venturing out the last while and getting back into crafting, having fun in front of a sewing machine and messing with hot glue guns!
Will post up some samples of my hand made cards. I am getting stock ready for my new venture in Waterloo Square. My self a few other lovers of art, vintnge and collectibles will be part of a new exciting venture in the city. The idea is an indoor market thats less 'market' and more 'emporium', somewhere to stumble across cool, retro and arty treasure. It will be gloriously titled 'The Golden Teapot' after an old meeting point that was an actual Teapot in the cities heyday...(Cattle Market) doubt it was actual gold though.

Hence my part, I'll be taking out a stand called Cowgirls and Butterflys...( yes before anyone thinks my spelling is even worser than my grammer.... I know butterflies has an IES but I like the YS, makes me think more of flying and less of flies!! yuk )
I will be flaunting my wares some old, some new, some crafted, some designed from the 30th of April and each weekend after.

I haven't stopped photography altogether though.
Holy Communion season coming up, I've a few dates left if anyone wants their little Angels Portraits done at the event.....and of course don't forget the Crafty Bears Parties.

So make sure y'all spread the word and visit me at Cowgirls and Butterflys at The Golden Teapot at the Old cattle Market in Waterloo Square, y'hear!
